Excellus wants to help their members make the most of their Medicare plans in 2025, which means sharing important information and opportunities for members with broker partners. Here are a couple resources you should be aware of:
Virtual Medicare Member Event: Excellus BlueCross BlueShield Medicare members can join for a live online virtual member event on February 27 at 12 p.m. The Medicare team will take a closer look at how to use their medical and dental benefits, including the perks and extras that are part of plans. This webinar will also talk about what’s new in 2025 with pharmacy benefits and how Medicare Part D works, along with tips on how to save money on prescription drug costs. Space is limited. Medicare Member Insider: This newsletter is mailed out quarterly to Medicare members and is packed with important plan information and tips on how to use supplemental benefits. You are encouraged to read and share this with your clients. The winter edition covers topics, such as annual well visits, how to find your cost share, FitOn, and more.

As of February 1st, 2025, Excellus BCBS will no longer accept print orders for formularies. Agents are encouraged to use the website to access PDF versions of formularies, as well as the searchable drug list when meeting with clients.
If you’d like to request a formulary for an existing Excellus BCBS member, you can order one on their behalf using this form. You will need a member ID to complete the order.

Members on the discontinued Medicare Blue Choice® Access plan can use a Special Election Period to select new coverage now that the Annual Election Period is over. The Special Election Period extends to February 28th, so if a member was defaulted to Original Medicare, they can still use the SEP through February to elect different coverage.
Members transitioning their coverage from Blue Choice® Access can select “My plan is ending its contract with Medicare, or Medicare is ending its contract with my plan” on their application as the Attestation of Eligibility for an Enrollment Period.
