Geisinger becomes the inaugural member of Risant Health

With full regulatory approval complete, Risant Health, Geisinger, and Kaiser Permanente can work together to advance and expand value-based care to more patients, members, employers and communities.

Geisinger will maintain its name and mission and Geisinger patients will continue to access care as they do today. Geisinger will continue to accept non-Geisinger health coverage for its care, operate its health plan, partner with non-Geisinger provider organizations, and work with non-employed physicians, as it does today. And Geisinger’s 600,000 health plan members will continue to receive coverage from Geisinger Health Plan as they do today.

Geisinger names president and future CEO

On March 4, Geisinger announced Terry Gilliland, MD, will become its next president and CEO to replace Jaewon Ryu, MD, who will become CEO of Risant Health. Dr. Gilliland will become the eighth chief executive officer in Geisinger’s 109-year history. Read the announcement here.

Help with OTC and flex benefits

Do your customers have questions about their over-the-counter (OTC) or flex benefits? They can call NationsBenefits customer service at 877-880-8874 (TTY: 711), daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The OTC benefit includes things like:

  • Cold, flu & allergy medicine
  • Diabetes care
  • Eye, ear and dental care
  • Supports & braces

Flex benefits* can pay for:

  • Dental costs, including oral exams, fillings, crowns, routine cleanings and X-rays
  • Routine eyewear such as eyeglasses (lenses and frames) and contact lenses
  • Hearing aids, including testing and fitting done by a provider

*Certain plans may not include the flex benefits listed above. Customers can refer to Chapter 4 – Medical Benefits chart in their Evidence of Coverage to see which specific benefits are covered under their plan.

Lock-in Period underway

The Open Enrollment Period (OEP) has ended, and as of Monday, April 1, the Lock-in Period is underway. Remember to review the new D-SNP benefits. And have you checked out PACE? Revisit pages 55 – 62 of the broker quick reference guide for more information.
