Important Change to Cigna Network Relationships in TN and South FL

November 6, 2023
Cigna

Change in Provider Contract

Cigna HealthcareSM has been negotiating in good faith with TriStar Health System, Inc. and HCA Florida Healthcare and worked hard to reach an agreement. However, all parties were unable to agree on a new contract that will keep healthcare affordable for Individual and Family Plans (IFP) customers. Members are dealing with inflation and rising costs of care, making access to affordable, quality care more important than ever.

As of October 1, 2023, HCA TriStar is no longer in-network for our Individual and Family Plans customers in Tennessee. Additionally, as of October 1, 2023, HCA Healthcare hospitals are no longer in-network for our Individual and Family Plans customers in Florida. HCA Florida Healthcare physicians and ancillary providers have a contract termination date of December 1, 2023.

Cigna recognizes that ending a provider contract can be disruptive to customers. That is why they provided customers with advance notice that these providers may no longer be in our network as of October 1, 2023.

What your clients need to know:

  • HCA TriStar and HCA Florida Healthcare hospitals, outpatient surgical centers and aligned physicians will no longer be part of the Connect network and any services delivered by these providers would be considered out-of-network
  • Emergency care services would continue to be covered at the in-network rate, consistent with state and/or federal law regardless of where care is received
  • Customers receiving ongoing medically necessary care may be able to continue that care with HCA TriStar or HCA Florida Healthcare at the in-network benefit rate for a specified time starting October 1, 2023 under their plan’s Continuity of Care guidelines. Customer service advocates are available 24/7/365 and can help with that
  • In Florida, HCA Florida Healthcare professional and ancillary providers are out-of-network effective December 1, 2023

Cigna is committed to supporting you and your clients. They will help your clients access affordable, quality care from other hospitals and doctors by guiding them to in-network alternatives. They will need to select an alternative if they want to continue to get care at the in-network benefit level. Here are some providers your clients may visit:

  • In Tennessee, Vanderbilt Health
  • In Florida, Jackson Memorial Health System, Mt. Sinai Medical Center, Memorial Healthcare, Larkin Community, Jupiter Medical Center, Keralty Hospital, Wellington Regional, Cleveland Clinic and Broward Health

Your clients can find in-network hospitals and providers online using myCigna.com® or the myCigna® App. Additionally, customer service advocates are available 24/7/365 at the phone number printed on a customer’s Cigna ID card or at 1.800.244.6224.
