AEP tip of the week

On Medicare Plan Finder (MPF), UnitedHealthcare Chronic Special Needs Plans (C-SNPs) do not automatically appear unless you filter and select the appropriate checkbox. To get all available UnitedHealthcare plans, including C-SNPs, to appear on MPF, select the "Special Needs Plan (SNP)" filter and check the first checkbox. This will ensure you don't miss a plan that may be a potential fit for your client!

Part D video captions translated to multiple languages

UnitedHealthcare has added translated captions to their video that describes changes to Part D, making it more accessible for more individuals. This update reflects their commitment to meeting the diverse needs of members and agents. These videos can be shown to your members in their desired language to ensure an understanding of the Medicare Part D changes. The Part D video with translated captions can be found on YouTube by clicking the links below.  

Reminders for a smooth application process

Here are some reminders to help ensure an efficient application process and prevent applications from pending. Following these tips will help you avoid the most common reasons applications go into pended status.

  • Ensure the correct physical address is included on the application in the “permanent address” field.  
  • Obtain and submit the valid Medicare Beneficiary Identifier (MBI) number. You can refer to the enrollee’s Medicare card.
  • Ensure the member has Medicare Part A and B prior to submitting a Medicare Advantage or AARP Medicare Supplement Plan application.
  • Complete the chronic condition form in full and submit it with a Chronic Special Needs Plan (C-SNP) application.
  • Ensure your enrollee is eligible for Medicare or Medicaid prior to submitting a Medicare Advantage application. Please check eligibility by using the Medicare & Medicaid Eligibility Lookup tool (MMV), or calling or chatting with the Producer Help Desk (PHD). If you are unable to verify Medicaid through MMV, PHD or the state site, please submit the reward letter with the application.
  • After submitting an application, please allow up to 7 days processing time.

Take advantage of the healthy food credit this Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is right around the corner and many members may be preparing for a meal with friends and family. This may be a good time to inform clients about and remind eligible Medicare Advantage members to take advantage of their healthy food credit.  

The monthly credit allows members to help stretch their dollars even further to support their overall health and wellness. Eligible members receive a monthly credit to buy a wide array of healthy food items, like fruits and vegetables, meat, seafood, dairy products, bread, cereals and shelf-stable options.

2025 Updates to Renew Active

As UnitedHealthcare previously communicated, 2025 Medicare Advantage (MA) plans will have a new network design for fitness program consisting of two different networks—core and premium. Read the full article on Jarvis to find out how to look up an in-network gym or fitness location on the Medicare Product Portal, member site or app, or UHCRenewActive.com, which features a “Premium Location” indicator for select Medicare Advantage plans.

Additionally, starting Jan. 1, 2025, Orangetheory Fitness, The Exercise Coach and Club Pilates, CycleBar, StretchLab, Rumble, Pure Barre and YogaSix, which are part of Xponential Fitness brands, will no longer be in the Renew Active fitness network for Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement and Group Medicare members. Members can continue to use these locations through the remainder of 2024. This update is part of the ongoing evaluation to ensure the programs that provide the most value, access and options to members are available.

Online Medicaid lookup tool update

Great news! The ability to look up clients on the Medicare & Medicaid Eligibility Lookup tool has been restored for many states for the 2025 plan year, with more coming soon. To verify eligibility in states that are not yet available, please reach out to the Producer Help Desk (PHD) at 888-381-8581. Your lookup request will be processed within one business day.  

The PHD is open Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. CT. After hours, please submit your request via the PHD live chat on Jarvis, which is available 24/7.
