Despite months of hard work and UnitedHealthcarwe's best efforts to reach a compromise, they were unable to reach a contract agreement with Highlands Medical Center in Alabama. As a result, Highlands Medical Center will be out-of-network for members enrolled in a UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage (MA) plan and Dual Special Needs Plans (D-SNP) as of November 1, 2024. Impacted members have received letters.
Please note, members will have continued, uninterrupted access to Huntsville Health physicians and provider services regardless of the outcome of negotiations.
While UnitedHealthcare remains open to discussions with Highlands Medical Center, currently the primary focus is ensuring the members they serve have uninterrupted access to the care they need through continuity of care or supporting them as they transition to new providers.
Some UnitedHealthcare MA or D-SNP members in the middle of treatment at Highlands Medical Center may be eligible to continue receiving covered services for a specified period of time after Highlands Medical Center leaves the network. To determine eligibility, members can call the customer service number on their UnitedHealthcare UCard®.
UnitedHealthcare is here to support you through this. Encourage members who have questions about in-network health care providers to call the customer service number on their UCard or use the provider directory on myuhcmedicare.com.
Agents can refer to the provider directory on Jarvis > Quick Links > Find a Doctor to confirm a provider’s status and view a list of accepted plans
