Wellcare of California is currently in renewal negotiations with Optum Health Plan to ensure Optum’s continued provision of services to Wellcare members in California. As of Wednesday August 3, 2022, new member panels are closed for Optum-affiliated providers. This does not apply to Wellcare By Health Net, which remains open to new members.
We are working closely with Optum to renew an agreement as quickly as possible and minimize disruption. In the event that a mutually satisfactory agreement is not reached, effective October 1, 2022, Wellcare will transition each affected member currently assigned to Optum to another independent practice association (IPA) with which the member’s current primary care physician (PCP) is affiliated. If no such affiliation exists, the member will be assigned to a new PCP and IPA. An affected member may retain their PCP by transitioning to a receiving IPA in which the member’s PCP has an active affiliation.
Should members contact you, please let them know that there is no action to take at this time. We are continuing to meet with Optum and expect to reach a resolution. Additional information will be distributed.
You may continue submit enrollment applications with a Optum primary care physician (PCP) for Wellcare By Health Net plans. If you would like to view the Wellcare By Health Net online provider directory, pleasevisit:
