Low-Income Subsidy Plans Available to Help with Overall Health
Helping members live better, healthier lives is always Wellcare's topmost priority. With that in mind, agents should remember the Low-Income Subsidy (LIS) plans that Wellcare has designed for beneficiaries with limited resources who:
While those qualifying for “Extra Help” can choose any plan with Part D, including Part D standalone plans, Wellcare’s LIS plans work specifically with the government's Low-Income Subsidy program. Because the subsidy addresses the members' prescription needs, our LIS plans can focus on providing more meaningful medical and supplemental benefits like dental, hearing, vision, fitness, and others to address the member's overall health.
Members who are not already enrolled can apply for "Extra Help" in three ways:
1.) Online at www.socialsecurity.gov/extrahelp
2.) By calling Social Security at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778) to apply over the phone or to request an application
3.) In-person at their local Socia lSecurity office
The LIS chart, available in Centene Workbench and the Ascend portal, can help you understand the amount of "Extra Help" a beneficiary receives and help determine the right plan for them.
